Appointments

We offer a range of appointments, with the choice of book on the day 10 minute appointments or pre-bookable 15 minute appointments either early morning or afternoons.

By offering a range of time and type of appointment we hope to meet all our patients routine and emergency needs.

Morning Surgery

The first hour of each doctor's morning surgery is for pre-bookable 15 minute appointments, the first hour normally lasts from approximately 09:00 to either 10:00 or 10:15. Subsequent appointments from approximately 10:30 or 10:45 are reserved for on the day appointments. On the day appointments are allocated to patients who ring the surgery from 08:30 onwards.

Afternoon Surgery

Afternoon surgeries start from anywhere between 14:00 to 15:30 and finish between 16:00 and 17:45. Appointments for these surgeries are normally pre-bookable. We do, however, retain 2-3 on the day appointments for our afternoon surgeries. These cannot be booked until after 14:00 on the day and are primarily kept for emergency appointments.

All our GPs work on a part-time basis either 3 or 4 days a week and therefore it is not always possible for us to offer patients an appointment with the doctor of their choice if they require an emergency on the day appointment.

Please note that our reception team will always do their best to help get you an appointment for when and with whom you want but will adhere to this policy as a matter of course.

Emergency medical advice on Wednesday afternoons up to 18:30 is provided by our GPs on a rota shared with Great Western Surgery. For Out of Hours Care please call NHS 111. A recorded message at the surgery will give contact information.

Triage System

Each morning (apart from Wednesdays) one of our GP partners or our salaried GP will offer return triage calls to patients in order to ascertain whether their problem can be dealt with quickly over the telephone or whether they need to make an appointment to come in and see the GP or nurse.

Our aim is to provide:

  • Faster access to a GP for patients
  • More convenient access
  • Better use of time for our GPs and patients
  • Ensure some appointments are available for patients with chronic complex illnesses

The triage system will only operate between 08:30 & 09:30 in the morning and will be limited to a specific number of return triage calls before the GP starts surgery. It is hoped that a number of calls will mean patient problems are dealt with over the telephone without the need for them to attend the surgery. However, appointments will also be allocated specifically for patients who use the triage system and still need to be seen by a GP or nurse.

Please note that we will still be operating the same system for pre-bookable appointments and these can be available up to 4 weeks in advance, however they are limited.

Cancellations

If you cannot attend an appointment for any reason please inform us as soon as possible in order for us to give the slot to someone else.

We operate a strict non-attendance policy for any patient who does not attend at the given date and time. Click here to read our policy
